Base Layer: Regulates Temperature and Absorbs Odors
The base layer should primarily be one thing: comfortable and soft against your skin. Another important aspect: it should regulate your body temperature and ensure you don't smell bad, even when you work up a sweat. Merino wool offers exactly these properties, being temperature-regulating and odor-neutralizing, making it an ideal material for base layers. For our Penguin Merino shirts and leggings, we combine Merino fibers with synthetic fibers to ensure maximum shape retention and durability. You can find more information about the material and its properties directly on the product page.
Mid Layer: Insulates and Protects You from the Cold
The mid layer ensures that you stay warm and cozy on cold winter days. For perfect thermal insulation, we use insulating yet breathable and quick-drying materials. For particularly icy temperatures, we recommend the Fiberball Insulation Jacket or Vest, which keeps you extra warm thanks to an innovative tube system and woven insulation chambers while remaining ultra-lightweight. The Pinneco® Insulation Jacket and Shorts provide warmth with optimal freedom of movement and breathability. Thanks to eco-engineering, they are free of harmful chemicals and are 100% recyclable. The shorts can easily be put on and taken off using side zippers—no need to remove your shoes. Another versatile option is our Fleece Hoodie. More details about the material and its properties can be found on the product page.
Shell Layer: Repels Moisture and Keeps You Dry
Our shell jackets and pants withstand any weather and are the ultimate in waterproofing and breathability. The Dermizax® membrane has a water column of over 20,000mm, causing rain and snow to simply bead off. At the same time, it wicks sweat-generated moisture away from the body. This keeps you dry—both inside and out. Additionally, our shell jackets and pants come with practical features you won’t want to miss: underarm and leg ventilation, numerous pockets for your belongings, and a hood that fits over your helmet for truly rough weather. Further details about the material and its properties can be found on the product page.
Accessories: The Special Touch
Our freeride collection wouldn’t be complete without a handful of essential accessories. The Merino knit beanie and the versatile Merino bandana, which can be worn as a scarf, mask, or headband, offer protection from wind and cold. On warmer days, the ultra-light 5-panel Uptrack Cap with a foldable brim is the perfect companion for your outdoor activities. And, of course, we also offer a selection of logo t-shirts made from 100% natural cotton.
Relaxed Fit for Greater Freedom of Movement
Penguin Powderwear is designed with a relaxed fit that doesn’t restrict you and offers maximum freedom of movement—no matter what you’re doing. Most of our products feature a high stretch content, making them incredibly comfortable to wear without any pinching or squeezing. To help you choose the right size, we’ve included a size chart and recommendations for each product on the corresponding product page.
